Full-Time - Rotating Shift

The University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) is the flagship academic medical center at the heart of the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) and includes the 789-bed downtown Baltimore campus and the 177-bed midtown campus one mile north. We are looking for a talented Perfusionist to join our team here at the University of Maryland Medical Center.
Job Summary:
The perfusionist operates extracorporeal circulation and autotransfusion equipment during any medical situation where it is necessary to support or temporarily replace the patient's circulatory or respiratory function. The perfusionist is knowledgeable concerning the variety of equipment available to perform extracorporeal circulation functions and is responsible, in consultation with the physician, for selecting the appropriate techniques and equipment to be used.
Team/Schedule Information:
v Team of 16 perfusionists.
v Average total call amount, for adult perfusionists, is 6 days/month. (includes 2call, 1call, etc.)
v Perfusionists work ~30 hours/week on average.
v Post Call days are given after primary call shifts. (regardless of getting called in or not.)
v "Free" week off every couple months, between nightshifts, without the use of PTO!!!
v Morning team usually leaves at 1p on weekdays. Afternoon team comes in as needed, per daily OR schedule.
v 24/7 in-house rotating perfusion Rounder coverage.
- Day rounder shifts are 7a-7p. (1-2 shifts/month)
- Night rounder shifts are 7p-7a. Night rotation= ON Fri-Mon, OFF Tue-Mon, ON Tue-Thu, OFF Fri-Sun. (Usually ~5 night rotations/year, granting ~5 weeks off/year without PTO use!)
- In-house coverage drastically reduces call in amounts/hours for call team.
- Ensures there is always another perfusionist in-house, for call person, if help/break needed.
- Rounder will do cannulations/changeouts/oversee ECMO specialists and facilitate dept needs.
- Rounder also acts as a backup to the OR [perfusionists], and helps coworkers, as needed.

Qualifications
EDUCATION:
1. Bachelor's Degree from an approved Perfusion Training program OR a Bachelor's Degree with certification in perfusion technology (Required). Master's Preferred.
CERTIFICATION/ LICENSURE/ REGISTRATION:
1. Eligible for Certification by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (Required)
2. Licensure with the State of Maryland specific as a Perfusionist (Required)
3. Current CPR Certification (Required)
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
1. One (1) year of perfusion experience (Preferred)
2. Ability to maintain collaborative, team relationships with peers and colleagues in order to effectively contribute to the working group's achievement of goals, and to help foster a positive work environment.
