Neonatal Advanced Practice Provider (APP) PA or NP
Job Location: Duke University Hospital / NICU
Job Summary
The Neonatal APP provides direct patient care services and performs medical procedures under the supervision of a supervisory physician to infant's (birth through 2 years of age) in specialized neonatal units to include Intensive Care Nurseries, Intermediate Care Nurseries and the Special Care Nurseries in the Duke University Health System. The Neonatal APP performs physical exams, collects and documents data, conducts diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders and schedules laboratory studies and professional consultations, prescribes appropriate interventions and medications, and provides direct patient care services. The NNP contributes to excellence in patient care, research, teaching, and provides leadership in the organization.
Job Eligibility Requirements
Education
NP: Graduate of accredited MSN or DNP Neonatal or Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Program
PA: Graduate of accredited Master's Degree Physician Assistant Program plus a Neonatal APP Fellowship
Certification
NP: Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) or Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP-AC)
PA: PA-C
Both: BLS, NRP mandatory before hire
License
NP: RN license issued by NCBON with approval to practice as NP
PA: NCMB issued license to practice in NC
Both: Fed & State DEA license
Experience
NP: 3 years RN experience as neonatal nurse, 1-year NNP/PNP experience preferred
PA: 1 year PA experience thru neonatal fellowship or as neonatal provider
Job Hours
Primary hours will be rotational covering 24 hours / 7 days per week including nights, weekends, and holidays. The Neonatal APP must also be flexible to provide on-call coverage, as needed.
