This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, Dialysis Unit, the dialysis staff nurse maintains accountability for the coordination and delivery of care to dialysis patients. Core elements of performance include: Knowledge and active participation in dialysis center level quality improvement processes as well as customer service programs. Clinical competence is required in the delivery of End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) outpatient and inpatient care. You may also serve as the charge nurse. The dialysis staff nurse demonstrates leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies with others. This role involves an understanding of the specialized care required to promote desired clinical outcomes for ESRD patients in accordance with the End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) Conditions for Coverage established by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and National Kidney Disease Outcomes Quality Initiative (KDOQI) guidelines. The dialysis RN must assume \"on call\" status when assigned. The \"on call\" role requires performance of urgent hemodialysis on acutely ill patients including pre or post renal and liver transplant patients in a variety of treatment settings.
