Occ Summary
Perform a variety of interpretation, translation and Medical escortservices to assist non-English speaking patients rece iving care withinthe Duke Health System.
Work Performed
Participate as a neutral party in the role as conduit of information that must flow between Duke staff and the International or Domesticpatie nt/visitors.Ensure that information pertaining to thepatient's outpatien t services, hospitalization, (i.e. advancedirectives, consents from trea tment, diagnosis and prognosis, treatmentplan, follow-up appointments an d Health Care Education) are accuratelycommunicated.The patient's questi ons/concerns regarding thisinformation is to be appropriately addressed and documented per RiskManagement Directives.Provide interpreter service s, and conveythe exact message as opposed to summarizing the information in a waythat is subjective. Provide required documentation as identifie d by theInternational Patient Center.Maintain accurate daily records onall requests for service as well as the provision of services. Maintainac curate and timely documentation within programdatabase.Promote customer satisfaction related to Dukeservices; notify Supervisor of any issues th at may be problematic forpatients orDuke staff.Participate in continuin g educationprograms and competency training to enhance professional role ofInternational Medical escort. Ensure that all policies and procedures related to process, service, and employee work rules arefollowed.Maintai n confidentiality in all matters related topatient care and visitor issu es on non-English speakingpatients/families/escorts.Participate in on ca ll coverage toprovide interpretation/translation services during non-bus iness hoursand business hours as assigned.Perform other related dutiesin cidental to the work described herein.
