The Inpatient Mental Health Nursing Assistant (NA) is directly responsible and accountable to the Nurse Manager (NM) and Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM). The NA provides direct patient care to include the delivery of recovery-oriented nursing care. This NA demonstrates competence, including specialized knowledge, skills and abilities in caring for a variety of Inpatient Mental Health patients. -Provide structure and maintain a safe therapeutic milieu and recovery-oriented environment to all patients. -Perform vital signs, weights, blood sugar, EKG, Bladder scan, etc. -Record treatments, findings, and progress in electronic patient record. -Performs and records a variety of advanced specialized treatments. -Recognize emergency situations and report to Primary Nurse -Ensure proper specimen collection. -Transport patients and specimens to required destinations. -Utilize aseptic techniques when applying compresses or complicated dressings. -Assist doctors and nurses in the performance of diagnostics examinations. -Assist physicians and nurses in the care and treatment of the ill receiving treatment. -Enter information into the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS). -Teach patients and the family members the need to continue procedures for proper health care. -Support Recovery-oriented Inpatient Care by improving therapeutic environment and conducting daily groups -Serve as preceptor to new and float nursing assistants -Participate in committees and process improvement projects -Perform other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Day 7:30am-4pm Evening 3:30pm-Midnight Night 11:30pm-8am; Compressed Tours also available as staffing allows.
