The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) assigned to the Community Living Center (CLC), located at the VA Illiana Health Care System in Danville, IL, provides direct patient care to adult through geriatric aged patients, recognizing the age-related needs and demonstrating the knowledge and care appropriate for that age group. The LPN, CLC, provides effective education to residents and/or families members in relation to common disease processes, medication, and/or prescribed treatment regimes. Duties include, but are not limited to: Considers the cognitive, physical, emotional, and chronological maturation need of the resident, demonstrates competence and correctly provides appropriate care for that age group or groups; Recognizes culture differences in residents and demonstrates ability to understand and respect the resident's culture, values, beliefs, and practices; Directs patients in restorative techniques to preserve functioning and prevent complications through exercise, ambulation, gait training, bowel/bladder training, socialization groups, and activity of daily living (ADL) training; Assures Do Not Resuscitate and advanced directive issues are addressed in record and resident identification. Resident identification is in place; Uses proper channels to resolve ethical issues; Recognizes common medical, surgical, psychiatric conditions managed in the CLC and uses appropriate techniques as taught to respond to care required for these conditions; Directs patient in restorative techniques to preserve functioning and prevent complications. Work Schedule: Full Time, 12 hour day shifts with rotating weekends and holidays. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
