| This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan reimbursement program. If selected for this position you must meet specific individual eligibility requirements, and submit your application with in four months of appointment. The final award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) is determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services Office. Pay: Competitive salary, may be eligible for annual performance bonus, typically regular salary increases. Paid Time Off: Annual leave at the rate of eight (8) hours per biweekly pay period; Sick leave at the rate of four (4) hours per biweekly pay period; 10 paid Federal holidays per year. Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years' vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA. Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement). Incentives: Possible recruitment/relocation bonus to highly qualified applicants and student loan repayment up to $200K for eligible debt. Take a look at VA's Top 20 Reasons Doctors Enjoy Working at VA and VHA Physician's Brochure Major duties and responsibilities include: The Endocrinologist will provide care in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the endocrine glands and hormones they produce. Treatment of the endocrine system includes the pituitary gland, thyroid gland, parathyroid gland, adrenal glands, pancreas and the ovaries and testes. Management of diabetes and use of insulin pump, metabolic disorders, osteoporosis, menopause, infertility, and cancers of the endocrine glands. Duties include, but are not limited: Direct patient care in the inpatient and outpatient settings. Provide diagnosis and treatment of diseases to adult patients presenting with illnesses and injuries applicable to his/her practice, training, experience or current competence. Provide treatment of general medical disease and disorders in an outpatient setting, provide consultation services in an inpatient setting or emergent need. Order routine diagnostic imaging studies and labs. Participate actively in performance improvement and attend assigned meetings or process action teams. Work collaboratively with other specialties. Follow VA directives and polices and maintains current in Basic Life Support (BLS). Possess computer skills to access and input typed data on each patient into the computerized patient record system (CPRS). Maintain license to practice medicine in a state, territory or commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia. Required to possess full and unrestricted licensure and to maintain current registration. Provides direct clinical supervision of advanced practice nurses or physician assistants and other staff as appropriate. Establishes professional working relationships with other clinical service providers within the medical center and outlying clinics, provide telephone and e-consult consultations as needed Cooperates with and participate in medical duties or functions related to quality of care, peer review and with other performance improvement activities as directed. Provides prescribed medical treatment and personal care services to veterans in need of endocrinology services. Documents observations, assessments, and changes in patient's condition; collaborating with health team members to facilitate positive patient care outcomes. Attend mandatory trainings, such as, Talent Management System (TMS), VA Voices, Own the Moment, and comply with CME requirements in the specialty of Nephrology timely. Other duties may be assigned as needed by the supervisor or Chief of Staff. Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 0800-1630 Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
