Overview Responsible for patient care duties and activities for a group of patients. Creates an atmosphere of hospitality on the unit and contributes to efficient unit operation by carrying out all unit clerical and receptionist activities and transcribing physician orders. This position is 56 hours per two weeks on the Evening shift (3pm - 11:30pm) , 8 hourshifts, and Every Other Weekend rotation, Holidayrotation, and eligiblefor full benefits. About this position Mental Health 4500 - 25-bed unit
- Comprised of double rooms and single rooms.
- Patient Population: Mood disorders, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, psychosis,dual diagnosis with chemical dependency and mental illness
- Average length of stay: 7-13 days
- Provides care for adults with serious mental health conditions; patients receive psychiatric and psychological evaluation, medication management, individual and group therapy, and care management to promote an easy transition back to mental health support in the community
Responsibilities/Job Description - Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards
- Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements

- Supports the Nursing Process to achieve outcome focused patient care
- Performs vital sign checks, bladder scanning, blood sugar testing and documents cares provided
- Achieves customer service excellence by understanding the needs of all internal and external customers, patients, families, physicians and the interdependent team
- Prioritizes and transcribes written doctor's orders under the supervision of the RN
- Documents patient information in EHR and/or other electronic system in accordance with program standards, department policies/procedures
- Patient Care Delivery: Observes and collects pertinent data and/or clinical findings to enhance patient outcomes
- Patient Education: Provides patient educational information appropriate to the developmental level, learning needs, readiness, cultural values, and beliefs of patients and families
- Patient Safety: Demonstrates practices that support safety with recognition of variations in populations served, preventing harm to patients, families, employees, and themselves
Qualifications Required Qualifications: - 1 to 3 years of office experience, preferrably in a health care setting
Preferred Qualifications: - Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- Patient care experience
- HUC certificate
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS)

- Computer Skills Basic: Ability to use a computer and applications that are associated with performing basic work tasks (navigate in Windows, Outlook, etc)
