Director of Patient Care Services - PICU

The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Children’s Hospital Colorado (CHCO) cares for pediatric patients and their families with the most serious and complex health issues across the seven-state region. Children’s Hospital Colorado’s is nationally ranked as one of the top 10 Children’s Hospitals by the U.S. News and World Report and is a three-time Magnet ® recognized organization for nursing excellence. The PICU is known for caring for many critically ill children while providing better outcomes and shorter stays than the national average. The PICU at CHCO, on the Anschutz Medical Campus, is the largest and most technologically advanced PICU in the Rocky Mountain region and the only Level I Pediatric Trauma Center within a 350-mile radius. With up to 48 beds and a dedicated team of more than 150 doctors, nurses, and specialized staff. We offer care modalities such as Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), and advanced pulmonary support within the PICU. The Director of Patient Care Services for the PICU provides clinical and operational leadership and support for PICU services offered at CHCO. The Director’s focus is to ensure high quality care, care coordination, and oversee operational systems in support of strategic plan and annual goals in the areas of clinical care, research, education, and advocacy. The Director reports directly to the Vice President/Associate Chief Nursing Officer of Critical Care Services and works collaboratively with the Medical Directors, Nursing, Clinical, Ancillary, and Business leaders and partners. The Director works to collaboratively develop and articulate a shared vision, standardize and deliver superior clinical care and outcomes and establish priorities for programmatic growth and excellence. The Director acts as a liaison and works collaboratively with hospital administration, physician leadership, nursing, and other program/practice administrators within the organization and with external partners to create a cohesive, well-coordinated, and quality-oriented program and services.
