The experienced Flow Cytometry Key Operator and Hematology Medical Technologist will be responsible of performing the following activities:
Completes all aspects of Diagnostic Hematology and Flow Cytometry to perform leukemia-lymphoma immunophenotying including, sample preparation, staining, acquisition, and data analysis.
Completes and/or ensure the compliance with the quality assurance program for the Flow Cytometry and Hematology area including but not limited to the daily quality control, the instrument preventive maintenance, ensure the participation in the correspondent proficiency programs, ensure the participation of the technical personnel in a competency program, among others.
Ensures the laboratory compliance with the regulatory agencies such as: CAP, CLIA, among others.
Provides training to other Medical Technologists in all aspects of Diagnostic Flow Cytometry and Hematology.
Provides daily supervision to the technical personnel in the Flow Cytometry and Hematology sections.
Performs cell-differential counts on bone marrow aspirate smears and peripheral blood film slides.
Prepares special stains on bone marrow aspirates and peripheral blood slides (e.g., Wright Giemsa, iron, others).
Helps with administrative duties including writing and maintaining procedures, completing proficiency testing, and maintaining supply inventory as needed.
Prepares reagent stock and working solutions.
Monitors proper use and consumption of reagents, materials and consumables.
Ensures the implementation of corrective actions, generation of reports and when a fail or problem is identified in the testing systems and/or any phase in the procedure.
Performs other related duties as needed and deemed by supervisors and medical director.
Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Hemathology and Diagnostic Flow Cytometry.
Current certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) with the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
Specialist in Cytometry (ASCP) and/or Specialist in Hematology (ASCP)

We are looking for an technical expert in the field of Flow Cytometry and Special Hematology. This candidate will lead, train and assist in developing the department. It can be a long-term or locum tenens position (we are flexible).
