The Department of Pathology and Genomic Medicine at Houston Methodist Hospital (HMH), located in the Texas Medical Center, is seeking a manager for its full service Anatomic Pathology Laboratory (Histology/Specialized Techniques/Cytology/Autopsy). The successful candidate should have a strong background in Anatomic Pathology and supervisory/managerial experience.
HM is one of the nation’s largest, not-for-profit healthcare providers, with 1,250 beds and 4.3 million square feet of clinical and research space. The Houston Methodist System (HM) currently consists of HMH and seven community-based hospitals, Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital, Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital, Houston Methodist San Jacinto Hospital, Houston Methodist West Hospital, Houston Methodist St. John Hospital, Houston Methodist St. Catherine Hospital, and Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital, bringing the total capacity of the system to approximately 2,345 beds. HMH and HM System are experiencing a period of unprecedented growth. In 2018, we are opening a new 1.0 million sq ft patient tower with a state of the art 12,000 sq ft Histology Laboratory.

The HMH AP Laboratory serves as the central AP laboratory for the HM System, as well as clients in our expanding reference laboratory business (HMDL). The candidate must serve as a resource to other laboratory sections and medical services to provide excellent customer service and patient care. The AP Laboratory is a full service laboratory including Histology, Cytology, IHC, FISH, DIF, EM, two frozen section suites, autopsy services, and Consultative Services. The successful candidate will manage approximately 70 FTE’s in a collaborative environment and have close interaction with world-class pathologists.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS o Bachelors degree in Medical Technology, Biology, or other related science field
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS o Five years of laboratory experience, of which one year must have been in a managerial role in healthcare;
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED Must have one of the following required certifications: o Certified as a Histotechnologist (HTL), Histotechnician (HT) certification by Board of Certification (ASCP) o Equivalent certification to the above based on educational requirements and examination
