Overview
MT: Monitor cardiac rhythms and other basic physiologic/hemodynamic parameters within the hospital, report/document heart rhythm changes, and perform related maintenance and patient assistance activities. Responsible for the receptionist and clerical function on the Patient Care Unit as well as the patient flow and the observation and documentation of cardiac rhythms at a central monitoring station under supervision of a Registered Nurse. Common Conditions that require Monitor Technicians are cardiac surgery, renal failure, CHF, COPD, neurological problems, sleep disorders, seizure disorders, and cancer. Dysrhythmia certification or training preferred. CNA: Under the supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse, the nursing assistant performs various duties in the care and treatment of patients in accordance with established methods and procedures of the Medical Center.
Responsibilities
Maintains patient flow and staff assignments in staff link. Unit organization to include maintaining medical records, inventory of supplies, equipment acquisition, and supply maintenance. Proficient in computer skills. Posts monitor strips and 24 hour trends as directed daily and accurately interprets cardiac rhythms and notifies appropriate staff of changes in cardiac rhythms Maintains log book, telemetry inventory, report sheets and telemetry units. Scheduling. Patient Safety. Collection of Specimens. Completes patient care duties as assigned and documents interventions appropriately. Performs nutritional care to include documentation of intake and output per unit standards. Patient hygiene: Consistently and independently provides direct patient care including bathing, mouth care, skin care, and ensures clean linen. Attentive to all of the patient's personal needs. Performs purposeful patient rounding and responds to patient calls in a timely manner.

Monitoring telemetry patients from central monitoring station or like.vast work experience related to nursing or medical records is desirable.Must have completed Medical Terminology course. Ability to maintain professional manner with visitors, hospital staff, and physicians. Ability to work under pressure and to organize and complete multiple tasks in a limited time. Able to read and write and do basic mathematical computations. Ability to work under pressure ; able to relate to patients, hospital staff, and visitors. Ability to perform repetitive duties using several well defined procedures under supervision.
